FAQs

What is a zine?
A Zine (derived from 'magazine') is a self-published work revolving around a specific theme, put together by either a single person or a group of people.
Do I need prior experience to join?
Not at all. We encourage anyone to join, even if it's their first time!
What if I don't have a portfolio?
No worries! While we are looking for passionate artists, we aren't very picky either. The contributor applications will require a few files showcasing your best works, though.
We will still be selecting contributors based on skill and passion.
How many contributors will be accepted?
While we're looking for at least a minimum of 12 artists, we're also willing to accept as many talented artists as possible.
What is a 'Backup-Artist'?
When someone needs to drop out of the project, a Backup-Artist will be here to fill in their role.
When applying as a backup artist, please keep in mind that you will potentially have less time to work on your piece.
Will there be a physical copy?
Unfortunately, not. As when we were planning this zine, we had always kept in mind that this project will be digital for a number of reasons. However, this could potentially change in the future.
Will artists be compensated?
This project gains no form of monetization whatsoever and is purely a volunteer-only passion project aiming to be pushed out to the world before Kirby's Anniversary. Contributors will be allowed to monetize their own work outside of this project, however.
Can I draw my OC?
Unfortunately, no. We're very dedicated to sticking to the theme of KSSU.
Do you accept written works?
Writing is accepted, but only in minimum. (Like, only a few sentences.) This zine focuses more on art and scrapbooking rather than writing.
How do we communicate with other contributors?
Every contributor who is accepted into the Zine will be obligated to join a discord server for it.
Visit our Tumblr (and other socials) if you have any more questions!
